"People live in a responsive community where all: work, live, and recreate together, are given the opportunity to learn about their choices, are supported as they pursue their choices, are employed to increase their economic power, and the organization partners with the existing community." |

The Organizational Change Mentoring Project is a statewide intensive, individualized, one year technical assistance and training project for community rehabilitation providers interested in restructuring organizational systems and services to support individuals with disabilities in their communities. Participating organizations are provided technical assistance in a seven-step process that occurs over four, two day planning sessions that prepare the organization for lasting change. The process includes determining the reason for change, enrolling key players and building consensus and commitment around organizational change. A strategic plan is developed that will assist the organization in realizing its new vision and mission, and a guidance team is put together that will steer the organization through the change process. The final step is to set up a system for continuous quality improvement to ensure ongoing change and organizational development. In addition to technical assistance and training, participating organizations benefit from networking quarterly with other participating organizations both within Florida and within the larger region which includes mentor organizations from Tennessee. The network meetings provide an opportunity for organizations to share successes and struggles and learn from those who started the process before them. The meetings also offer the opportunity for the network to advocate for and to impact funding and policy change, related to community-based services and self-determination for individuals with disabilities.
