Summer Camp Announcements
As we become aware of camp announcements
we will post them to this page.
Other than one or two camps in Florida that have
a one or two week long program specifically for autism, there
are no camps for children on the autism spectrum. We have not
found any camps in Florida that are summer long programs for kids
with an ASD.
The camps in the directories listed below, may
be willing to accept your child, but you will need to go through
the directories to see which programs might apply and then contact
them.
For children
12 years and younger, you can contact your county's information
line and ask for the number for your county's Child Care Resource
and Referral Program. That is the program in each county that is
charged with helping parents find child care. They should also know
of any summer programs in your county.
Another source
of information would be your school's ESE Specialist who can tell
you which schools (if any) offer extended care after school programs
or summer programs.

What's Your Kid Doing this Summer???
For many teens and preteens, summer is a time to immerse themselves
in rigorous sports activities which challenge the mind and body.
Now, children and teens with autism can have the same opportunities.
Extreme
Sports Camp is an overnight summer camp in Aspen,
Colorado, where older children with autism spectrum disorders
can safely engage in sustained physical activities and find personal
growth through a supportive, individualized, and adaptive program
of recreational sports.
The sports
chosen by Extreme Sports Camp foster motor planning and skills
that can lead to higher cognitive function and improved behavior.
The activities chosen can be individualized, are free of complicated
rules, and are intrinsically fun and motivating to the average
ASD child no matter what level of mastery they have achieved.
Our core
program consists of wall/rock climbing, hiking, horseback riding
and water sports (rafting, swimming, skiing and tubing).
Extreme Sports
Camp enrollment is limited to boys and girls ages 8-18.
Campers participate
in activities as a group but have the benefit of one to one camper/buddy
interaction.
Camp activities
take place in the beautiful town of Aspen, Colorado, and the surrounding
Roaring Fork Valley, a setting ideal for outdoor recreation.
Please visit our website for complete information and camper/counselor
enrollment forms. We look forward to seeing you in Aspen!

the needs of campers struggling with ADHD, learning disabilities
and Asperger's Syndrome. Base Camp activities include backpacking,
rock climbing, ropes course, whitewater rafting, and tree climbing.
Older teens (14-17) can choose between Trek (backpacking), TOBA
(paddling), and Tri-adventures, all of which are high-adventure
experiences emphasizing decision-making skills. Sight and INSight
