Adult Services
CARD is committed to helping individuals become valued and productive citizens. We achieve this goal through utilizing evidence based practices that are developmentally appropriate for each stage of the lifespan. As individuals with ASD move from their school years to adulthood, there are numerous services, systems and supports that need to be considered in order to ensure an individual’s ongoing quality of life. Topics such as transition from school to the world of work and/or college; guardianship; social security and preparation for independent living are just a few of the issues that we address with our constituents at CARD.
The adult services section of our website is devoted to providing information on the issues that concern young adults and adults and resources to meet their needs. It features information, tips, and resources for this challenging but exciting time in life for both the individual with ASD and their family members. We will continue to post new information so check back with this section periodically for new additions.
During the 2007-8 fiscal year, all CARD centers selected a goal regarding successful transitioning from school to adult life. The document below provides the reader with example of success stories from around the state of Florida on the various paths people have taken during this past year.
