Autism System of Care - Red Flags Workgroup

The Florida Autism System of Care Project collaborated with medical health professionals in community health centers, hospitals, and medical schools throughout Florida (including Health Department, Physician Organizations, Florida Pediatric Society-Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Area Health Education Centers, Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Children’s Medical Services) along with CARD site professionals on the Autism System of Care Project creating a Red Flags Workgroup.

This workgroup has developed products, training, and technical assistance in the area of increasing awareness and skills of community health providers in identifying “red flags” of toddlers/young children at risk of having autism spectrum disorders. The products include (a) web-based statewide physician referral and reference guide, (b) fact sheet identifying “red flags” and early screening and surveillance practice, and (c) training module highlighting “red flags”, general and specific developmental screening instruments and suggestions on incorporating routine screening and surveillance into one’s practice.
